The are motor shows, and then there’s the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show. KLIMS 2026 is just around the corner now, and we’re less than a month away from the 11th edition, with the theme ‘Beyond Mobility’. Mark June 12-21, Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), on your calendar now if you haven’t already done so.
KLIMS has always been the platform for inspiring dreams, an event where we get to see concept cars and flagship models from the top carmakers, up close. The KL motor show ‘had me’ before I even started primary school – in 1990, I saw my dream cars in the metal, and that format of automobile (Japanese, two doors, low slung) is so cemented that I’m still lusting after them decades later. Mercedes-Benz had the R129 SL on the stand and BMW’s star was the E31 850i, but the Euro cruisers were pipped to my heart’s post by the JDM kings, led by the Honda NSX.
For the sake of cars, here’s hoping that my nephew and his friends will experience a similar inception at KLIMS 2026, but this year’s edition has something for everyone, and we really mean everyone, even those who have no interest in cars!
At today’s media briefing, organiser Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) and show manager Qube revealed a range of sub-events and activities they planned for KLIMS 2026. The ‘Urban Play’ obstacle course will give attendees a feel of what 4x4s are capable of, and if you’ve never been off-road, prepare to be shocked.
MITEC will be far from quiet, as there will be a ‘DJ Playground’ pumping out beats plus a modified car show and battle. Car clubs will be out in force and organisers are expecting over 200 cars from the clubs. You’ll also find race and flight simulators at the show, and hobbyists can spend hours with RC tracks (drift and off-road) and diecast booths among other merchandise sellers. Load up your e-wallet!
KLIMS is collaborating with Riuh, and the final weekend will see live performances from Malaysian celebrities and artistes such as FUGŌ, Kyoto Protocol, Adrian Danial and TY:DEL. There will also be a drumline performance by Voice of Percussion, a fusion dance performance by Siluman Production and more. Pokémon fans, you don’t want to miss the Pokémon Pokopia Truck at the show.
Last but definitely not least on the list of non-car stuff is the KLIMS Signature Ambassador contest. Taking a page out of the Bangkok show’s battle of the ‘prettys’, this is a pageant-style contest where the brand ambassadors parade their marque’s uniform. Which brand will have the hottest awek and amoi? Find out on the main stage on June 14.
On a more serious note, there will be pocket talks by industry experts as well as over 60 cars available for test drives, so if you’re looking to try before you buy, KLIMS 2026 is a good place to browse.
Speaking of brands, the almost 30,000 sqm of exhibition space spanning seven halls at MITEC will be filled by brands including Dongfeng, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, Jetour, Kia, Maxus, Mazda, MG, Nissan, Perodua, Proton, Proton e.MAS, smart, Toyota, Wuling, Xpeng and Zeekr, so there’s plenty of cars to look at and sit in. The OEMs will be joined by auto accessories and services, of course.
Here’s a hack. If you want to save time looking for parking (and the fee too), you can take advantage of the free shuttle buses from MRT Titiwangsa and LRT Pasar Seni. In the vicinity of MITEC, van shuttles are available from the Matrade open car park and National Hockey Stadium. If you have to park nearby, there’s a van that will stop at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan, the Syariah court, MITI, Matrade, Publika, Hyatt Midtown and LHDN Jalan Duta.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at RM30 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays for adults (free admission for kids below 12), while it’s RM15 for senior citizens (60 and above) and disabled persons. Students with a valid ID can get a ticket at a flat rate of RM15. Here’s the best thing – if you can make it on weekdays, enjoy free entry from Monday to Thursday.
There’s also an unlimited access pass that grants you entry for all 10 days for just RM80, and a five-person bundle pass for just RM100, which is perfect for families. For more info on KLIMS 2026 and ticketing, head to the event’s official website. See you there!
