First CKD Xpeng model in Malaysia due in Q2 2026

At today’s launch of the 2026 Xpeng G6 RWD Standard Range, Bermaz Xpeng provided an update on the brand’s local assembly (CKD) project that was first announced back in December last year.

As reported at the time, Xpeng Motors (Malaysia) partnered with EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) to assemble Xpeng vehicles in Melaka, with production of the G6 and X9 set to commence on March 31 and May 25, 2026 respectively – subsequent models will follow.

“As recently announced, we have already engaged with EPMB to do our CKD in Malaysia. The work is in progress right now and we estimate to see the first CKD cars to come off the line in Q2 this year,” said Adrian Loh, Xpeng Motors (Malaysia) country head.

When asked which model would be first to be CKD, Loh didn’t name a specific one but based on the timeline reported previously, the G6 is likely to be Xpeng’s first CKD model in Malaysia.

“As you know, there are quite a lot of models that we already have in China. Our HQ is currently carefully selecting the models that are suitable to be CKD in Malaysia. Of course, the models that we’re selling right now will definitely be our top priority,” Loh replied.
